Praying the Hours – Part One

The epic feature Praying the Hours begins with the Traveling Man killed in an accident caused by someone he trusts and loves. During the time it takes to cross from this life to the next, he visits eight people with whom he has surprising unresolved business. Seeing their lives from the vantage point of eternity, he glimpses beauty and struggles that mirror his own. His journey ends in a surprising event where he views his own life with tender grace just as he is leaving it. The bittersweet tale allows us to see how hard times and even death can make way for transcendence, and that eternity is not something that happens after we die, but a river flowing under the surface of ordinary life. Praying The Hours uses story to imagine the ancient practice of daily prayer observed by Christians, Jews, and Muslims as if each hour were a character in a life cut short.
