In Soul Food we follow the Finnish family Luotola on their journey to the Bulgarian countryside, where practices of food and the rituals around the table have not been changed for the last century. Through the point of view of a modern Finnish family, we discover the incredible power that food possesses, the power to bring people together, not only for the purpose of eating, but for the purpose of feeding your soul. 'Soul food is when you get together with friends and each of them brings his own spice, and not in the sense of food but in the sense of experiencing each other. This is what we have lost in the modern western world. The food does not bring us together and it has lost one of its essential purposes.'
