The murderous Brutus Jones escapes from jail and bluffs his way to becoming the emperor of a Caribbean island. Based on Eugene O'Neill's Expressionistic play, the film stars Paul Robeson in the role he played on the Broadway stage. This version includes the final scene restored to its original blue tint, as would have been originally presented.
