Many in the West have seen its inevitable rise as a global hegemony, and many hitched their wagon to the notion that the fortunes in the West were on a downward trajectory and that the future was Asia. But this has come at a significant cost. The P.R.C., under the leadership of Xi Jinping and the Communist Party of China, seeks global control and one under their rules and vision for the future. One in which the state dictates to the people what they can say and do, think and question, and the job and class they will ultimately find themselves in. This is an Orwellian state that we all fear, but observe in China as they exercise total control over the people.
