Like writing fiction.So, I created a whole new fantasy world – one without elves, dwarfs or orcs, but with swords and sorcery, and whole new set of mental powers. It helped that my kids are great fans of LOTR and Star Wars. That just made the creation of the world easier and so much fun.I then set a four-book heroic epic in the world that reflects my own taste in reading – heroism; remarkable few against huge odds; a mix of mental, physical and sorcerous powers; not too much darkness or gore; no vulgarity.I realise that the current preference in fantasy is for anti-heroes and deeply flawed protagonists. But I hope that there are enough readers for heroic adventures and classical epic fantasy.My first of the four novels, Dark Pursuit: The Lost Shinmahs is now available on Amazon. It hit #3 on Amazon's bestseller list of epic fantasy kindle books in Nov 2012.Tired of extensive physical travel around the world, I now prefer less punishing mental excursions into fictional worlds of my own creation.
