The market gets a vote. And the market says you are done.In a cold future smelling of ozone and disinfectant, the Author waits for the verdict that will define her existence. Her manuscript, a work of blood and sweat sits in a memory cube, vibrating with the electronic heartbeat of its own looming obsolescence. Opposite her sits a faceless publisher AI, a black glass obelisk designed to evaluate human art for profitability and stylistic alignment. The verdict is swift: Non-viable. Obsolete.Joined by her Rememnant, a floating holographic companion with a penchant for dry wit. The Author must navigate a universe where genre purity is enforced and human expression is performance art. From the sterile waiting rooms of publishing houses to the chaotic fringes of a post-human world, she seeks to answer a single question: In a world built by algorithms, what survives the edit? An Experiment in Collaborative Fiction. The Author is not a conventional novel. It is the result of a literary "jam session" between a human and an advanced generative AI. After weeks of preparing a deep world bible of lore, species, and thematic constraints, the material was handed to the AI to emulate a hardboiled, metafictional voice. Generated in a single burst with minimal editing, this text preserves the raw tone, structure, and metaphors of that partnership. It is a story about narrative control and the future of collaboration, messy, unpredictable, and full of invention. Experience the boundary between author and algorithm. Adam Joseph Giles is a genre‑fluid storyteller whose fiction wanders freely between the mythic, the uncanny, and the quietly absurd. His work mixes dark humour with cosmic unease, weaving together science‑fantasy epics, intimate psychological novellas, and strange comedic tales about the things that lurk just outside the corner of the eye. He lives in Norfolk, writing in the borderlands between realities and occasionally laughing at what he finds there
