Harley LaBelle, dragonfly jockey in training. Deep in the lush, hidden world of Fairyland, fourteen-year-old Harley LaBelle has one dream: to become the greatest dragonfly jockey who ever flew. But his father has forbidden it, calling it too dangerous, too foolish, too far from the life of a farmer's son. When Harley discovers that his quiet, broth-sipping grandfather was once a legendary jockey himself, everything changes.
What begins as a secret pact between grandson and grandfather quickly becomes a journey of courage, sacrifice, and self-discovery. Guided by the ancient Racer's Creed and the legendary prayer to Talon, the greatest racing dragonfly that ever lived, Harley must prove himself worthy of a dream that no one else believes in.
From the chaos of festival races and the wonder of bumblebee wrestling to a daring midnight rescue and a bond forged with a dragonfly like no other, Talon: The Great Dragonfly is a richly imagined, warmly written tale that captures the magic of believing in yourself even when the world tells you to stand down. With all-original artwork by author and illustrator John C. Blackford, and a curated music playlist woven into the story's atmosphere, this is more than a book; it's a world you step into and never quite want to leave.
