For six months, antique shop owner Harold Tenbrook has not slept. Not for an hour. Not for ten minutes. Because every time he closes his eyes, John Mundy speaks-sometimes screaming, sometimes whispering, but never stopping. It all began on a rainy Halloween night on New York's Lower East Side when a desperate, gaunt woman named Matilda traded a cardboard box of junk for twenty dollars. Among the worthless clutter was a small gray metal tin scratched with a name: John Mundy. Inside lay gray powder and fragments of human bone.Within moments of opening it, Harold met John, a bloated, decaying 18th-century aristocrat in a powdered wig who was cursed by a vengeful lover in New Orleans to be bound forever to his own ashes. John cannot cause physical harm, but he doesn't need to. By subjecting Harold to endless, grinding noise and appearing wherever he goes, he drives the shopkeeper to the edge of sanity. As sleep deprivation consumes his mind, body, and livelihood, Harold realizes a terrifying truth: John doesn't haunt places, he haunts people. And the only way out of the curse is to find someone else to take the urn for twenty dollars...Powdered Bones is an ominous, chilling ghost story about cursed relics, unseen torment, and the terrible price of escaping a haunting.
