About

Aristotle (384 BC—322 BC) was an important Greek philosopher. One of the thinkers with the greatest influence on Western culture, he was a disciple of the philosopher Plato.

Aristotle developed an entire philosophical system in which he thought about practically all existing subjects, such as geometry, physics, metaphysics, botany, zoology, astronomy, medicine, psychology, ethics, drama, poetry, rhetoric, mathematics, and logic. “The Poetics” (in Latin: poiétikés), probably written between 335 BC and 323 BC, is a set of notes from Aristotle's classes on the subject of poetry and art in his time, transmitted orally to his students. It is the first known text that specifically seeks to analyze certain forms of art and literature, and it is also a limited record of what Greek art was like in his time. “The Poetics” is not only the first theory of Western theater; This is a book that has influenced this art throughout its history and that still resonates in current times.
