Following a raven, Mr. Vane enters this twisted reality from our world, and tries to set things right. George MacDonald was a Christian Universalist, believing all will eventually be saved, and this story illustrates how even Lilith, after a great struggle, can enter a peaceful, cleansing sleep of death before salvation.
