Gherrit is a lowly clerk in a bank, calculating interest and exchange rates for a meagre wage. When he is offered a trip, all expenses paid, he is told he is just a messenger. Just delver documents, witness signatures. All routine. No mention of kidnapping, evil mazes, buried secrets, financial skullduggery and, worst of all 'assurance specialists'. P Thomson lives in Canberra, which most people mistake for the capital of Australia, and passes the time writing and telling stories to children. Authors always mention pets, so they have one dog and at least two possums.
