Hatshepsut, the only legal heir of Thutmose I, was married to her half brother Thutmose II an ineffective ruler at best, who preferred to be thought of as a great military commander and left the ruling of Egypt to his half sister/wife. Hatshepsut had all the attributes of a male Pharaoh, even leading troops into battle. She ruled Egypt with a firm hand, was admired for her ongoing building of some of Egypt's most famous temples, funerary sites as well as sponsoring a trade expedition to the Land of Punt. During her reign peace and prosperity reigned in Egypt. As a very young princess she is thought to have rescued Moses from the bulrushes...
