There was a time when almost every man wore a hat, coat, and tie when leaving the house - and often while at home as well.Women rarely wore pants. Long skirts with nylon stockings were the accepted norm. Bare legs were frowned upon.Because of the end of World War II and huge increases in government spending, the 1950s were economic boom years.It was a simpler time when people were generally more thoughtful of others.The family unit was the cornerstone of American society and the Baby Boom was in full swing!Born into this exciting post-war world in 1950, I've been a witness to major changes in almost every area of American life.Hopefully, these personal memories will give you some insight into what it was like growing up in the 1950s.
