About

Fact is often far more exciting than fiction; Gods of Men, Where the Spartans are Made is the first of an action pact semi-biopic saga of the life and times of the admiral and general, Lysander of Sparta.
From the moment of his birth, Lysander's life hangs in the balance, when he is taken by his father into the mountains to the remote chasm known as the Deposits, where five elders examine him for his worthiness. Upon hearing that he's of mixed race, "come him one half Helot and one half Spartiate" as one of the elders says, and tells the others to throw the baby into the chasm, where the rejected of Sparta's sons are thrown. Thanks to a series of strange omens and his father's persuasive tongue that saves the baby Lysander, bringing him to the attention of one of Sparta's most powerful aristocrats. Tellis, the king's cupbearer.

It's seven years later and as Lysander stands before the one-eyed boy-herder, he feels all the terrors of Hades descending on him. For the next 12 years, he must endure the unendurable to meet his destiny, as a backdrop we witness the machinations and plots as old enemies awaken old animosities and the growing geopolitical crisis between the two superpowers, Athens and Sparta putting them on an unstoppable trajectory into war…
