Ellen Curtis is a writer and web TV personality born and raised in St. Johns, Newfoundland; whose aptitude for the written word began at a young age, when she began writing short stories, poetry, lyrics and novellas.She was 'discovered' at a Sci-Fi on the Rock II writing panel in 2008, and her first collection of stories, Compendium, was published just over a year later in October 2009.Since then she has risen to become one of Engen's lead authors, working of high-profile projects such as the Infinity series of adventure novels, become the editor of the From the Rock anthology series, and continuing in her own endeavors.In her spare time she enjoys reading, art, music and spending time near the ocean. Engen Books in proud to maintain the tradition of great short fiction and science-fiction published in Canada and has, since it's inception, been dedicated to bringing the best in short fiction by both young and experienced authors to the printed page. To this end, the From the Rock anthology series has been the venue through which both new and established writing talents have made their ideas available to a wide market.The series began in 2010 with the anthology title Sci-Fi from the Rock (2010), was followed in 2011 by More Sci-Fi from the Rock, and finally in 2013 with Sci-Fi from the Rock Returns. All are currently out-of-print.In 2016 the series was rebooted with Sci-Fi from the Rock (2016), under the leadership of editors Ellen Curtis and Erin Vance. The new collection was released in conjunction with the tenth annual Sci-Fi on the Rock convention, and for the first time opened its doors to anyone in Canada who wished to submit.
