About

Falling Behind
In her debut poetry collection, writer Aleza Freeman explores themes like love, loss, longing, hope, and wonder. With poems for all ages (12 to 100+), Falling Behind is a lighthearted book that's relatable, thought-provoking, and quick-to-read.
Note from the author
Falling Behind is a poetry book about motion and emotion-about feeling stuck, running away, seeking meaning, and letting go-all experiences I know well.

It's my first poetry collection so the poems in the book aren't exactly new. The oldest one is well over drinking age and the most recent is practically a tween. Despite a few "retro" tech references, it's a lighthearted book that's relatable, thought-provoking, and quick-to-read.

I've been holding my poems hostage for the last decade, reading, re-reading, editing, and re-editing. Earlier this year, I realized, to grow I had to let go. So, I've given them their own lives on the pages of this poetry book. I hope I raised them right.

It turns out, Falling Behind is also about moving forward.
