About

HEARTBREAK BOULEVARD is a period story from the early 1950's set in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos New Mexico. The story is about a man (main character and protagonist) Quinn Chase, who used to be a detective with the Albuquerque Police Department but now in 1951...has his own Private Investigations Office in Albuquerque, NM. HEARTBREAD BOULEVARD is a sequel to my previously published story..."Searching For Edgar's Five Dancers," which features the same main character Quinn Chase and is set during WWII.

In this current story, Quinn Chase becomes involved early on with an old acquaintance of his named Jimmy Shea. Shea is sort of a mobster/gangster in' Albuquerque and is involved in "suspicious" business activities now. In the 1930's, Shea was involved in "Bootlegging" and Quinn investigated Jimmy. Now, Shea hires Quinn to contact Shea's previous love interest and retrieve a family heirloom ...but Shea actually has other motives for both Quinn and Greta Lohr, his former fiancé.

While Quinn deals now with Jimmy Shea...there is spy activity up at Los Alamos National Laboratories near Santa Fe. Quinn is recruited by the FBI to assist with the investigations into American's stolen atomic secrets from Los Alamos. So, in the middle of the story Quinn leaves Albuquerque and moves to Santa Fe to assist the FBI.

While in Santa Fe, Quinn becomes romantically involved with a strange lady, who shows up (a Russian Spy), who is sent to assassinate a Russian defector, who is a Professor and expert atomic scientist. The story proceeds as an action and mystery story from this point with a major gun battle, as the Russian Spy attempts to carry out her mission. At the end, there's the ultimate "twist" as Jimmy Shea reveals his true motivations for manipulating the main characters in a tragic scene on a building top in Santa Fe.
