About

The Bible has multiple creation accounts. Most people know or have heard of the one which took six days, but they are not familiar with the rest. Biblical creation stories are plural because they are hypothetical inventions by various biblical authors. The simple fact of the matter is that there was no one present when creation occurred. Thus, with no firsthand experience, various biblical authors--each with his own biases and politics--wrote one. Biblical creation stories are about the act of God creating and the product of that creation.

While it is not exhaustive, this book explores the many biblical creation stories and invites readers to use them to nourish their spirituality. Spirituality is the experience of the human spirit connecting to the divine Spirit, or vice-versa. Through reading the plurality of biblical texts about creation, through reflections on creation accounts, through praying a part of a psalm, through meditating on a question designed to lead the reader into deeper reflection based on one's personal life, and through journaling to record insights, a reader can nourish his or her spirituality. Insights can be gained that strengthen the Spirit-spirit connection.
