When 11-year-old Niya moves to the quiet Caribbean island of St. Eustatius-Statia for short-she's ready for sunshine, new friends, and the thrill of Carnival. But instead of parades and parties, she finds whispers of an old island legend: Zara, the Dancing Jumbie.
Zara was once the dazzling queen of Carnival, her feathered costume lighting up the streets. But after a violent storm rolled in, she disappeared without a trace. Ever since, locals say a glowing figure appears during Carnival, dancing through the night before vanishing at dawn.
Is it just a story? Or is Zara searching for something-or someone?
Niya teams up with her curious cousin Aidan and a mysterious island historian known as Mr. B.B. to uncover the truth. Their journey leads them through eerie clues, ancient warnings, and haunted corners of the Carnival Village. As Carnival reaches its peak, the danger deepens. Shadows shift. Whispers follow them. And something unseen is always one step behind.
Can Niya solve the mystery before time runs out? Or will she and Aidan become part of the island's ghostly tale?
A spine-tingling Caribbean adventure full of folklore, friendship, and things that dance in the dark.
