About

This full-color book opens with an introduction to wine--including what it is, how it's made, and the various types of grapes and wines available--and then clearly shows the reader how to read a wine label and how to taste wine. The author guides the reader through a wine list and how order wine in a restaurant and explains how to buy wine, serve wine at home, and perfectly pair it with different types of food. From there, the reader is taken on a tour of the world's wines, region by region, from Europe, to the southern hemisphere, to North and South America. Stacy Slinkard is a certified sommelier and the wine expert for About.com. She has visited many Old World and New World wine regions, and in addition to her work for About.com, she is a freelance writer on such topics as cellar management, wine procurement, and pairing, in addition to teaching wine education classes, working at wine festivals, and coordinating professional wine tastings. Stacy holds a Master's degree in public health. Author home: Loveland, CO
