About

It's a fascinating book with animals that talk, adventure, and warfare. However, unlike adult books, there are battles but no bloodshed. There is drama, but no foul language. There is tension, but the friendships are real among a child, his family, and his animal friends.

In the book, Willeland is a country where everyone gets along. There is mutual respect; they work to help each other and share what they have when needed. This contrasts with the other two countries nearby, and hence, the story has a built-in tension, complete with battles and heart-warming friendships. It is written for children ages 9 to 12, but adults, especially grandparents, have enjoyed reading it.

Gold is discovered in Monrovia and it upsets the economic stability of the whole country. Servasta, the country adjacent to Monrovia, invades Monrovia and the governor of Monrovia enlists Marvin Vermun and his family to help, even though they initially had no idea what that meant. The plot unravels as the Vermuns realize that they indeed can help. In the last section a battle ensues with stunning results.
