We Were Never Awake is a haunting psychological sci-fi horror novel that blurs the boundary between dream, memory, and reality itself. Set within the mysterious and ever-shifting Hollow Creek, the story follows Emma, a woman who begins to uncover unsettling truths hidden beneath a collapsing system of rooms, machines, and forgotten people. What first appears to be a haunted house narrative slowly expands into something far larger-a layered construct of consciousness designed to preserve humanity after the end of the world. As Emma journeys through impossible spaces like Room 39, Room 50, and the Dreaming Machine buried beneath reality, she discovers that nothing she experiences is truly separate. Every disappearance, every memory lapse, and every distorted version of the world is part of a vast shared dream maintained by an ancient machine built to sustain human existence after extinction. But the truth is more terrifying than the illusion: waking up does not mean escape-it means revelation. And what lies beyond the dream is not salvation, but silence. With its final twist reframing everything that came before, We Were Never Awake delivers a deeply atmospheric exploration of identity, perception, and the cost of consciousness itself. In the end, the question is not whether Emma wakes up-but whether reality was ever meant to be survived at all.
