You will cry, you will laugh, and you will identify with millions of human beings, and perhaps even one of the mythical creatures, whose joy, suffering and wondering is expressed in Waterboarding a Phoenix. Catharsis for those who have felt the depths of human injustice burning in their soul, this is above all a work of empowerment.
Vox Zeitgeist consolidates reflections on pent-up sentiments of our times towards the injustice of legal, political and judicial oppression into the powerful, relevant and universal language of sufferance. "And one may ask why the authorities would be so silly as to waterboard a phoenix, when there are so many quail hopping around aimlessly whose flesh can be extorted at no cost at all? And the answer is that the authorities cannot tell a phoenix from a quail And a phoenix only knows it is a phoenix when cast into flame"
Whether you wish to know if you are a refugee in the closet, what parasite is under your scales or wish to regard an official who harasses you as a diminutive wrinkled lizard that needs to be tamed, there is something in Waterboarding a Phoenix which will thrill your imagination, lighten your day, provoke thought and forge identification with the rest of humanity.
Who should read Waterboarding a Phoenix? Everybody, everywhere. You will read it, then tweet it, then read it to your family, to your colleagues, and even send it as a gift when you wish to console or uplift. Perhaps this little book shall serve to explain to future generations why we did things the way we did. Why we felt the way we felt.
