Water Wise: Leak Detectives to the Rescue is a fun, hands-on children's book about saving water-one careful drop at a time.
When the hottest summer leaves their school garden drooping, three friends (and a cheerful water-drop named Drip) become Leak Detectives.
They learn to spot sneaky drips, measure water use, safely re-use grey-water with an adult, fix simple problems, and watch the flowers bounce back.
Perfect for ages 3-8 at home, school, or on the go, this story turns big environmental ideas into kid-sized actions. Short chapters, lively black-and-white illustrations, and simple activities make it easy for families and classrooms to read, try, and celebrate small wins together.
Kids will discover:
• What grey-water is-and what it isn't
• How to listen for leaks and where to find them
• Easy ways to measure water and compare habits
• Safe re-use rules: use the same day, pour on soil, keep edible leaves dry, and ask an adult for plant-friendly soap
• Why tiny fixes (like a washer or O-ring) can save more water than you can carry in a bucket
• Flower-friendly habits like watering at the right time and adding much
Includes a simple "Water Wise Badge" challenge with kid-friendly steps, plus clear safety reminders throughout. No scare tactics-just curiosity, teamwork, and practical solutions that help gardens thrive in dry weather.
Ideal for parents, teachers, librarians, eco clubs, and school garden leaders looking for an upbeat STEM-friendly read that inspires real-world action. If your young reader loves detective stories, science experiments, or helping the planet, this book will make them smile-and get them started.
