From that one starting point, the concepts build outward. Particles, forces, gravity, the arrow of time, life, and mind each fall into place as a different shape of the same simple stuff.
It is written for anyone, built like a staircase. Each short chapter answers one question and opens the next, to read in an afternoon perhaps. Part of the picture is solid, a working model you can run and check for yourself if you want. Part of it is more an exploration of implications, an attempt to say what the idea might mean for what's going on in the universe, etc..
By the end you may be looking at the same world through a new set of coordinates. Not new facts. A new floor under the old ones.
