Very Bad Ideas

Lena, a sharp, witty journalism major, and Alex, a charming but aloof literature student, reunite years after their university days for their mutual friends Emily and Jake's wedding. Both are part of the wedding party, which forces them to spend a week together on their old campus, reigniting unresolved romantic tension. Over the course of wedding week-filled with hilarious pre-wedding disasters, nostalgic memories, and the chaos of planning-Lena and Alex confront their lingering feelings for each other. Despite years of avoiding the possibility of romance, Lena realizes she has never truly moved on from Alex, while Alex confesses that he, too, never stopped caring for her. The story builds through humorous mishaps, like flower shortages and dress issues, all while Lena grapples with her fear of ruining their long-standing friendship. However, Alex's patient persistence and Lena's own growing realization lead them to take a leap of faith in each other. By the end of the week, Lena and Alex decide to stop running from their feelings and commit to trying for a future together. The novel beautifully blends wedding comedy, forced proximity, and heartfelt emotion, with a love story that comes full circle as Lena and Alex open themselves up to the possibility of something more.
