An aging, vain, lonely, pretentious and failed indie writer is forced to give a glowing, five-star review to 'Vampire Odyssey', the worst book ever written. Landsford Uppington-Smythe is not only an indie writer, but a book trader: meaning, he promises - and delivers upon - reading the works of other indie writers in return for them reading his. This process has gone both well and horribly for Mr. Smythe. Well in the sense that his poor-quality work has finally gathered a readership. Horribly in the sense that everybody that reads his work regards it for what it actually is: dreck. Of course, Mr. Smythe surmises that the reason his own work is met with such horrible reviews is due to what can only be jealousy. His regards his own as above and beyond the talents of each writer with which he trades. Then he trades for a book called "Vampire Odyssey" by a writer named Darrelle Sherman and all hell breaks loose.
