At the seventeenth year of her life, Mackenzie May is not the typical definition of a good girl. In reality, if asked to define herself, she'd say she has always been more like the villain of the story.
Five years after a painful divorce, she is still angry and upset with her parents. Especially her father, a successful businessman who had moved to another state to live with his new wife's wealthy family. Meanwhile, her mother decides that it would be better for her daughter to spend the school year with him. The father, the new wife and her two kids.
In the midst of all the chaos of her life, and all the unresolved issues with her parents, Mackenzie May rejects every approaching attempt from the stepmother and her kids. Mainly Liam, her dad's stepson, one of the popular boys, who insists in provoking Mackenzie.
Inevitably, she ends up falling in love with her stepmother's son, deeply connecting with him, and opening up to one of the best — and most painful — experiences of her life.
A story about love, kindness and gentleness. About new starts, growth, love and forgiveness.
