Every major security failure has one thing in common. It wasn't the firewall.
We spend billions on security technology every year. Breaches keep happening. The tools aren't the problem - the thinking is.
Unlearn Security offers a different starting point: a way of seeing the world that anyone can practice in the work they already do - whether you're a business leader trying to make better decisions, a security practitioner who suspects there's a better way, or someone who keeps being told "security is everyone's job" and has never been told what that actually means.
Drawing on thirty years across cybersecurity, physical security, safety, and critical infrastructure - and seen from nearly every angle, from engineering to the boardroom - Richard Diver strips the discipline down to a small set of durable ideas.
Asset, Access, Actor. Probability is not exposure. Remediation as stewardship. Decision support, not translation.
You'll leave with a threat model you can apply to anything - a system, a meeting, a Monday morning - and the vocabulary to push back when security becomes performance rather than practice.
Richard Diver is your guide to the security mindset: the quiet habit of noticing what others miss. He believes the best defenders aren't the loudest experts, but the most curious people in the room.
