Guilt and grief kept Katie Nilsson away from her hometown for a decade. Now, a nationally acclaimed financial blogger, she's back in the small hamlet of Lakeside, IL for her grandfather's funeral, and she soon discovers he was swindled by the town's mayor a few years before. When an unusually large number of the town's citizens start mysteriously dying off, Blake Jakobsen, Katie's childhood friend, now a local police detective, begins to suspect a sinister plot that extends to both coasts. But it's Katie's expertise in finance that leads her, with Blake's help, to the killer's fiendish motive. The answers only point to more questions, and she begins to wonder if her beloved grandfather didn't really suffer a fatal heart attack after all. Was he on the serial killer's hit list? If so, why? Katie races to find the answers and, shockingly, comes face to face with the killer who asks her to do the unthinkable.
Katie Nilsson offers readers an intelligent heroine with heart and humor who-once persuaded-isn't afraid to face her demons.
