Some girls survive the storm. Others learn to dance in the rain. Piper and Rebel met as foster kids at a summer camp in Texas--two girls who had already seen more heartbreak than most children ever should. Moving from one place to another, they soon realized they could depend solely on one another. They went through life together, experiencing everything from deep affection and sadness to difficult family situations and tough decisions, with moments of happiness acting as a source of resilience during their hardest times. What began as survival slowly became something stronger: a bond that felt more like family than friendship. Just as Rebel prepares to leave college in Austin and begin a new life in Houston, everything changes. A single test reveals a truth she never expected--she's pregnant and facing the future alone. Piper refuses to let her best friend walk that road without her. Even if it means giving up her own plans to return to New Orleans, she follows Rebel to Houston, determined to keep the promise they made as girls. Their shared vision manifested into a life they'd both been denied as children. Despite everything, life has a way of gently nudging people back towards the dreams they've deferred. Years later, Rebel finds a new beginning in the mountains of Colorado, while Piper finally returns to the city she has always loved--New Orleans. Though miles now separate them, the bond forged through years of loyalty, sacrifice, and unconditional love remains unbreakable. Because sometimes the people who save us aren't the ones we're born to... they're the ones who refuse to leave when the world falls apart. Unbroken is a story of enduring friendship and the quiet truth that family is not always the one we are born into, but the one we choose--and the one that chooses us in return.
