Burl and Gardera Doyle were, by all appearances, the quintessential Southern senior couple. They drove a slightly too-loud Cadillac, paid their taxes (mostly), and complained about the humidity. But beneath the veneer of sensible retirement planning lay a truth as sharp and dangerous as broken glass: the Doyles were killers, con artists, and lovers bound by a relentless appetite for chaos and cash. They had traded forty years of soul-crushing mediocrity in Nashville for the exhilarating life of infamy. Their retirement plan was simple: steal enough to make kings jealous, and then disappear into the Mexican sun. This is the story of how a meat-packer and a bread-maker became the most wanted fugitives in the world.
