''Two People'' by A. A. Milne (died 1956) was first published in 1931, entering public domain status worldwide. It was considered by the author and the publisher to be his first true attempt at a serious novel, a story exploring the relationship of a married couple and focusing on the quiet, rural life of Reginald Wellard, who achieves unexpected literary success. The story examines the evolving, sometimes distant relationship between Reginald and his younger wife, Sylvia, exploring themes of marriage, success, and personal change.
