Growing up is not easy. Children gain self-confidence and self-reliability when they are faced with challenges and obstacles that require them to abandon the flight impulse and stay to fight their way through. With each victory, children gain confidence and a sense of maturity. In this book, Twinkie must confront her fear of getting splashed with water as her hair is being washed and groomed. Her mother understands her fear and finds an appropriate way to ease the anxiety. Readers will enjoy meeting Twinkie as she grows through overcoming her fear of being splashed. Incorporating science vocabulary into this narrative creates opportunities for parents and educators to explore good hygiene.
