Fifteen-year-old Zoe is many things, but confident is not one of them. Perhaps that's why she prefers the company of animals. A self-professed advocate for their rights, Zoe is not above taking matters into her own hands. But the stakes are raised when she finds herself at the centre of a dangerous conspiracy involving the disappearance of animals from a shelter. She turns to street-savvy Alex Fisher, her troubled Social Studies partner, to help unravel the mystery. Zoe soon learns that nothing is as it appears, as she is confronted by angry parents, a dangerous sociopath, and an ill-advised romance.
"[four out of four stars] True Colours will inspire and foster an interest in activism in any reader, and the novel provides a great starting point for encouraging readers to explore what small things they can do to improve their communities and the world through small, personal acts."
CM Magazine
"With strong witty characterizations, this is an utterly believable teen adventure that is often truly laugh out loud funny as Zoe deals with all the usual teenage conniptions and the bizarre predicaments she finds herself in. Complimenting the whole story line is the best irritating sibling in fiction to be encountered in a long time."
