Classic fairy tale villains get to share their sides of the story in this collection from the multi-award-winning anthologists. In a bookshop in rural Maine, a good for nothing, unambitious young man finds his calling, in Delia Sherman's "Wizard's Apprentice." A wife's giant confronts a mischievous thief who dares to invade her home in Peter S. Beagle's "Up the Down Beanstalk: A Wife Remembers." Garth Nix tells the tale of a runaway girl with extremely long hair who becomes "An Unwelcome Guest" for a witch and her familiar. A newlywed bride moves into "Castle Othello" and uncovers the Moorish Prince's shocking secret in Nancy Farmer's "Bluebeard"-inspired story. Sugar and spice-but not everything nice-are the ingredients that make up one of fairy tale's most infamous baddies in Catherynne M. Valente's "A Delicate Architecture." These monstrous and misunderstood antagonists-and ten more-reveal their motives in Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling'sTroll's-Eye View: A Book of Villainous Tales, featuring award-winning and New York Times–bestselling authors.
