Sharing insider tales of the Sex Pistols' earliest gigs and stormiest reunions, as well as their most idiosyncratic inter-band dynamics, Triggers offers a vivid insight into the ultimate icons of punk. Yet, having performed and recorded with so many musical luminaries over the decades, Glen also reflects on his time with the likes of Iggy Pop, David Bowie, the Faces, Blondie, Primal Scream and many more.
This is the story of an outspoken, uncompromising man and remarkable, game-changing musician. Glen Matlock is the legendary former bass player and songwriter in the Sex Pistols. He is credited with co-writing ten of the twelve tracks on their sole studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks. He left the band in 1977 and formed the Rich Kids with Midge Ure, enjoying chart success with their 1978 'Rich Kids' single.
Matlock has been involved in all three subsequent Sex Pistols reunions tours, the last of which took place in 2007 before relations with singer John Lydon once again broke down.
In 2023, Matlock will release his sixth solo album, Consequences Coming, and joins Blondie on their forthcoming album and tour. The story of Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, as told in his own words via thirty songs. Matlock is raising his profile in 2023 after an outspoken appearance on BBC Breakfast News at the beginning of the year in support of his new single, as well as plans for him to open the Las Vegas punk museum in the summer. He is currently on tour in the US and playing with Blondie on their world tour, including a prominent spot at Glastonbury in June, appearing just before Elton John on the billing. Interest in the Sex Pistols remains at a high with new generations of fans discovering the band via their music, multi-brand licensing deals and the recent Pistol drama series directed by Danny Boyle.
