Trash to Treasure: The Upcycle Fair Team Turns Rubbish into Wonder is a joyful, read-aloud adventure for ages 6-12 about seeing treasure where others see trash.
When Brightside announces its first Upcycle Fair, three friends-quick-thinking Maya, careful builder Theo, and big-dreamer Jamal-set out to turn bottle caps, keys, a wobbly bicycle wheel, and a brass star gear into a spinning, singing invention. Along the way they learn that safety, patience, and teamwork matter just as much as great ideas-and that every rescued piece has a second story.
Perfect for home, classroom, or travel reading, this short, lively chapter book blends STEM curiosity with eco-kindness.
Kids will meet simple mechanisms (motion, sound, and basic linkages), discover how to sort materials wisely, and feel the thrill of testing, fixing, and trying again. Clear scenes, playful sound moments, and gentle humor make it easy for new and confident readers alike.
Inside you'll find:
- A fast, feel-good story about creativity, friendship, and caring for the planet
- Kid-safe making modeled on "Sort, Plan, Build, Show, Inspire"
- A fair-day finale with clever problem-solving under pressure
- Starter project ideas to launch an after-school or family upcycle club
If your young reader loves tinkering, crafting, and helping the world, this book turns curiosity into action-one rescued piece at a time.
