In "Behind the Walls," Dr. John M. Cobin tells the story no one expected him to live: an American-born Italian citizen, Baptist pastor, and former professor who spent more than five years inside a Chilean prison on charges arising from a clear act of self-defense - charges that physical evidence and forensics show were false. Rather than surrender to bitterness, Cobin turned his cell into a mission field. This memoir traces how a "gringo" political prisoner came to minister to the convicted, carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ to men society had written off, leading Bible studies, discipling the broken, and finding grace in the hardest place on earth. Honest about injustice yet anchored in faith, it is a witness to the power of conviction behind bars. Father of seven, grandfather of seven, and author of eleven-plus books, Cobin writes with the authority of a man who lived every page.
