In Mary Oldham's Toni's Secret, the second installment of The Aphrodite Sisters series, Toni Martinelli Ryan's perfectly curated life is in a tailspin. After discovering her husband, high-profile plastic surgeon Dr. Greg Ryan, has been having an affair with her childhood nemesis, Toni finds herself not only losing her marriage but also her beloved Pearl District salon, Zsa Zsa's. Trapped by a ruthless non-compete agreement and a punishing prenuptial, she is forced to abandon her career as a top-tier hairstylist for a full year.
Left with nothing but her resilience and the unwavering support of the Aphrodite Sisters-Sage, Roxie, and Kimberly-Toni retreats to Sage's guest cottage to plot her next move. In a bold and unexpected pivot, she partners with the charming veterinarian Dr. Jess James (affectionately dubbed "Dr. Rock") to open Wags Pet Hotel and Spa. While swapping human clients for four-legged ones, Toni finds an unexpected spark with Jess, though a series of misunderstandings about his personal life keeps her on her toes.
However, beneath Toni's polished exterior lies a profound secret she has carried for over a decade: a biological daughter, Jenny, whom she gave up for adoption in Canada. When a sudden tragedy leaves Jenny alone, Toni must finally confront her past and determine if she is ready to be the mother she never thought she could be. Toni's Secret is a heartwarming and empowering tale of reclaiming one's identity, the enduring power of female friendship, and the beautiful, messy reality of second chances.
