An unscrupulous pharmaceutical billionaire has a plan to flood the US market with counterfeit drugs in the latest entry in Tom Clancy's #1 New York Times bestselling series.
President Jack Ryan is used to dealing with threats to the American people, but how do you protect them against perfectly counterfeited pharmaceuticals? Patients in hospitals, clinics and at home are dying when the drugs they need for survival turn out to be ineffective copies.
The FBI has traced the fakes back to North Korea, but are the Koreans really the initiators of this scam?
Pharmaceutical billionare Miles Conlan has spent millions supporting radical groups while using the chaos they engender to cover his money making schemes. Could he be the shadowy figure working behind the scenes to destroy the American health system, and can Jack Ryan do anything about it when the North Korean military holds a knife against the throat of Seoul? A little more than thirty years ago, Tom Clancy was a Maryland insurance broker with a passion for naval history. Years before, he had been an English major at Baltimore's Loyola College and had always dreamed of writing a novel. His first effort, The Hunt for Red October, sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the New York Times bestseller list after President Reagan pronounced it "the perfect yarn." From that day forward, Clancy established himself as an undisputed master at blending exceptional realism and authenticity, intricate plotting, and razor-sharp suspense. He passed away in October 2013.
