During the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, Jeremy Silver, an up and coming New York City councilman and candidate for Congress, meets and is completely smitten by Christine Evans. Her history pulls them both into an intrigue that takes them from NYC and Washington to the heart of Russia. A great appreciation and colorful description of Russian history is leavened by the intertwining of two passionate love stories, that of Jeremy and Chris, and a half century earlier that of Chriss grandparents, Count Yuri and the Countess Natashia. Jeremy's adoration of Chris leads him to blindly act for her and her family putting their lives and his career in jeopardy.
