"...one of the most remarkable, beautiful, practical, and inspiring books on community-based change I've yet to encounter." - Margaret Wheatley, author of Leadership and the New Science and Who Do We Choose to Be? Fires, floods, rising inequality and growing uncertainty are exposing the limits of many of the systems we have relied upon. In The Weaver's Way, Corrina Grace asks us to rethink how change happens - and where our capacity to shape it really lies. Drawing on first-hand experience working alongside communities around the world, Grace explores why conventional approaches to social change so often fall short, and what becomes possible when we begin instead with relationships, connection and the knowledge already held within communities. Inspired by the intergenerational legacy of Guatemalan women weavers, The Weaver's Way offers a different way of thinking about change. Weaving becomes both metaphor and practice: working with what already exists, understanding the relationships between individual threads, and recognising that enduring patterns emerge through connection rather than prescription. Through stories and lessons drawn from Grace's work across different cultures and communities, the book examines the assumptions we bring to creating change - including who holds knowledge, who gets to decide what progress looks like, and why solutions imposed from outside so often fail to endure. It invites readers to pay closer attention to context, relationships and the existing strengths within communities before deciding what needs to change. Rather than providing another prescriptive framework or pattern to follow, The Weaver's Way offers the basic techniques - the stitches - from which people can create patterns appropriate to their own place, circumstances and challenges. At its heart is a simple proposition: meaningful change is not something we deliver to others. It is something we weave together. The Weaver's Way is for anyone seeking to understand and shape change in their community, organisation or wider world.
