About

Small business owner and middle-aged fence Ray Nealey is short on cash and keen on his next big hustle, so when he's unwittingly implicated in a burglary gone wrong, he doesn't run from it-he uses it. Navigating a sea of ex-cons, dirty cops and mob wannabes, Nealey uses every ounce of wit and foresight he possesses to make his mark on the unforgiving criminal terrain of 1980's Scranton, Pennsylvania. But when Nealey's life collides with that of Frank Cooney-an ex-con bartender desperate to get out from under the thumb of a corrupt cop, and Nicky Milone-a low-level associate in the local syndicate, frustrated by a stagnant and muddled career path, it becomes evident that they live in a world where conversation is currency and the truth is little more than a commodity to be molded to serve one's interests. The Wares is a dissection of the social, political and economic dynamics at work in an environment where the most callous and treacherous almost always win.
