Discover the untold story behind Christianity's central mystery. For nearly two thousand years, the doctrine of the Trinity-one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-has defined Christian orthodoxy, shaped creeds, inspired worship, and sparked profound theological debate. But how did this complex belief arise? Is it truly found in the pages of the Bible, or is it the product of centuries of interpretation, controversy, and philosophical reflection? In The Trinity Exposed: How Biblical Criticism Challenges Christian Orthodoxy, the author invites readers on a transformative journey through the labyrinth of Christian doctrine. Combining accessible language with scholarly rigor, Mandurah explores the historical roots, scriptural foundations, and doctrinal development of the Trinity, using the powerful tools of modern biblical criticism. What you'll find inside:· A sweeping historical narrative: Trace the evolution of Christian beliefs from the earliest followers of Jesus, grounded in Jewish monotheism, through the heated debates of the early church, to the pivotal councils of Nicaea and Constantinople where the Trinity was formally defined.· Critical examination of scripture: Explore the key biblical passages traditionally cited as evidence for the Trinity, including Matthew 28:19, John 1:1, and 1 John 5:7. Learn how textual criticism, manuscript analysis, and historical context challenge long-held assumptions about these texts.· The dynamic process of doctrinal development: Discover how church councils, creeds, theological debates, and philosophical influences-ranging from Greek and Roman thought to political and social upheavals-shaped and refined Christian doctrine over centuries.· Impact of biblical criticism: Understand how academic scholarship has revolutionized our understanding of scripture, leading to new questions, diverse interpretations, and the emergence of non-Trinitarian movements such as Unitarianism, Arianism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Latter-day Saints.· Interfaith perspectives: Compare Christian views of God and Jesus with those of Judaism and Islam, highlighting both common ground and profound differences in the concept of divine unity.· Faith and reason in the modern world: Engage with the challenges and opportunities presented by contemporary scholarship, pluralism, and global dialogue. Find pathways to reconcile tradition and inquiry, certainty and openness.
