Woqini dances to the Sun every time the ceremony is held. He dances for his own spiritual development, and for the magical powers that may help him drive the hated white men from the plains. The Northern Cheyenne warrior finds his greatest allies with the Southern Cheyenne Dog Soldiers and a band of Lakota and together they set the plains of Colorado and Kansas alight in a blaze of vengaence after the cruel and devestating Sandy Creek massacre of their people. With the medicine man, Hotuawokomas and two women by his side at various stages of his campaign - the gentle Lakota, Kayaweta and the fierce Cheyenne, Komeha'e - Woqini's story is one of immeasurable bravery, of love, passion and heart breaking loss. The Sun Dancer is the third book in the series, 'Songs of Warriors, Chants of Freedom'. The author has strived for Historical authenticity in closely recounting the true story of a great but almost forgotten warrior and the Cheyenne tribe's role in the Indian wars that followed on from the American Civil War. This is the story of the second incarnation in the series with a further view into the third.
