About
Nora Patel has kept score at Cedar Creek games for eleven seasons. She has her own book, her own corner of the press box, and her own rules. She has never once spoken to Deke Harmon.
Deke is the Cannons' aging first baseman, in his last season, and he has started sitting near her after games. Quietly. With a scorecard he clearly doesn't understand.
When a reporter asks her to tell the real story of Deke's career, Nora says no. Then she says yes, because it deserves to be told right.
Deke doesn't speak to her for a month.
When he comes back, he brings his own scorecard. It's wrong in three places. It's right in every way that matters.
A quiet small town baseball romance about the long season, the second look, and the kind of love that takes its time.
