Kayla Younger, super genius inventor of the Younger Interstice, has come of age for her transformation into a Hybrid Android. Her mother Janet, a Hybrid, tries to convince Kayla that she should undergo the metamorphosis. Kayla refuses, until she discovers her critical role assuring that Ferenti civilization endures the test of time.
