The Ribbon of Life is the true story of a woman whose life wove together the fates of countless young soldiers, threading a path that would forever change the course of history. French nurse Madame Suzanne Henri Raguin viewed her life as a ribbon, each intertwining thread leading her through extraordinary moments of compassion and sacrifice. From a young girl at a Swiss boarding school, captivated by American culture, to her life-altering role as a nurse in a U.S. Army Hospital during the Great War, Madame Raguin's journey was one of deep connection.
In 1918, she found herself caring for wounded soldiers, her healing hands and unwavering dedication saving young lives that would go on to build the future of America. These men, grateful beyond words, affectionately called her "Little Mother." In 1920, she traveled to America, visiting the homes of those soldiers, meeting their families, and witnessing the lasting impact of her work.
Written in 1938, this book is a powerful firsthand account of her journey to America, as well as a window into the 1920s, as seen through the eyes of a woman whose care helped shape a generation.
