Tae-kyung is the pristine Alpha heir of the Yeouido financial district pack. Ji-woo is a wolf-less admistrator who manages his schedule and hides his scandals. They have worked in silence for five years. When the mate bond finally snaps into place inside a quiet elevator, Tae-kyung does not pull her close. He checks his watch. He thinks of his father's political alliance with the Busan clan. He thinks of Ji-woo's debt-ridden family. The doors open, and he walks out without saying a word. That ten-second hesitation is the knife that kills their future. Ji-woo does not resign. She does not cry. She simply categorizes the rejection as a business decision. She becomes terrifyingly efficient, treating the bond like a glitched spreadsheet. Tae-kyung marries the strategic match his father chose, believing he can keep Ji-woo as a hidden lover. He is wrong. Ji-woo requests a transfer to a failing branch in the foggy port of Incheon. There, she meets a scarred, quiet beta wolf who offers her tea instead of power. Tae-kyung's life devolves. His strategic marriage is cold; his wolf paces in his chest, starving. He drives to Incheon at night just to watch Ji-woo's lights turn off. He destroys his marriage and his reputation to free himself, thinking she is waiting. She is not. When he finally stands in the rain outside her small apartment to claim her, she invites him in, makes him coffee, and introduces him to her husband. The bond is still there, screaming in his blood, but she looks at him with pity. She tells him that love is about timing, and he missed his.
